Hello forum,

please, did anybody manage to get the soundcard of an IBM Thinkpad 380 ED working? If so, could you please let me know how?

The soundchip is cs4236B; I tried      modprobe cs4232 io=0x530 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0 mpuio=0x330 mpuirq=7 synthio=0x330 synthirq=7      as described in ThinkWiki, sadly without success (No such device).

I did some trial and error typing     oss=cs4232     and added the parameters. The good news was that no error message occurred, but the bad news is that sound still doesn't work.

What should I do?

Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

Wow, thank you for that fast reply!

Of course I had tried the forum search before opening a new thread, but obviously not as smart as you did.

I will try again to get the sound working this weekend and let you know whether I'm successful or not.

Cheers
