I have a IBM Thinkpad 390x with 64mb ram 6gb hard drive. DSL 0.8.1 is working fine until I leave the laptop idle for more than ten minutes, after that it locks up. Total lock. Absolutely nothing works. I have to turn it off just to start it again. Does this happen to anybody else? Suggestions?

Try booting with:dsl noapic noapm Also, disable any kind of advanced power management hibernation settings in your computer's bios setup screens. Posted by rage on Sep. 24 2004,03:50
Well, after going thru the bios I finally found the setting for advanced power management. Apparently there is more than one setting to change. I finally found the right one. Thanks cbagger01 for the help.

I have the same problem with my 390E. I figured out on my own how to turn off all the power management stuff a while back.. but I still have problems with x locking up when idle. I ready the forums about his and this is my new /ect/lilo.conf entry:append="hda=scsi hdb=scsi hdc=scsi hdd=scsi hde=scsi hdf=scsi hdg=scsi h dh=scsi nomce noapic noapm" Still have the same problem though, and I'm certain my BIOS settings are all disabled for power management. One thing I still notice though is the kapmd is running. I can't kill it and I don't know how to disable it. If anyone has a clue please let me know. |
