You are going to have to do a poormans install...or burn a special loadlin cdIf you have a fat32 partition anywhere on harddrive copy the /KNOPPIX and /boot directories to that drive (make one if needed 64Megs as C:\) Use the 0.8.0 boot floppy and it should autodetect the /KNOPPIX dir and start running it from the hd...then create new ext2 partition, do hd install, install lilo. On reboot you can then load dsl from the ext2 partition...use cfdisk to erase the old fa32 partition (if you dont want it) and make it a linux swap partition and reboot...now you have a HD install with swap partition Brian AwPhuch Posted by LordCalf on Oct. 29 2004,06:49

You can get the boot floppy image here:< ftp://ibiblio.org/pub....8.0.img > And you can get the boot floppy creation program here: < http://www.duskware.com/download/rawrite.zip > Posted by LordCalf on Nov. 01 2004,08:53
just thx for the links, but there is a error, think that he dont wanna find my hdd and cdrw @ pcmcia ERROR: Can't find KNOPPIX filesystem, sorry. Dropping you out to a (very limited) shell. Press reset button to quit. Please HELP i need DSL Do i have to mount the pcmcia ? self ?! Posted by cbagger01 on Nov. 01 2004,22:41
Don't bother with your PCMCIA CDRW.Boot up in your other OS and copy the contents of the DSL CD disk over to a FAT or FAT32 partition. Hopefully, your FAT / FAT32 partition can be located as your first hard drive partition. Then DSL boot floppy will find the files and it will use them as if your hard drive partition is a fake CDROM. Good Luck. Posted by LordCalf on Nov. 02 2004,11:59

You could try to use the network frugal install script. It requires a copy of Tom's Root Boot Floppy Disk linux in order to use it, but it works. Check this thread and also read the "How to" for details: < http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....6;st=10 > |
