Hi there,

I had been successfully running DSL 0.9.0.1 on my IBM TP240.

My original vga boot option was 'vga=789'.

Then I tried a frugal install of 0.9.1, now even if I use the correct graphics options, the colours/depths come up all wrong (ie pixelated green yellow).

I have tried various options, including xsetup on boot and whilst logged in and different vga cheat codes.

I see no reason why vga=789 should be any different in this version of DSL?

Any ideas!?  ???

P.S.: When the ctrl-alt-backspace key trick doesnt work to go back to console, the laptop freezes and I have to reboot.

GOt it going once correctly, ran the backup script, but when I rebooted it stopped working again :(

Try running it a few times without the backup.

If it works okay, salvage any files you desparately need from your old backup, and make a new one.

Hi Libretto, I too am running DSL on a TP240,
and had the same problem yesterday, I think that if you set it

to fb800x600,

xfbdev xserver

then it should work no problem, did for me.

I also found that if you dont say no to USB mouse, PS/2 you
cannot use touchpad, and also that if you choose to do that
then if you plug in a usb mouse at start you can't use scroll.

The TP240 is a sweet machine for DSL though isnt it ?

Hi purewicked,

i found that if I used the boot floppy and started up with the 'norestore' and 'vga=789' options, it ran the xsetup script, I chose xfbdev, declined the usb mouse, said yes to the ps/2 mouse.

once that had booted and the screen was good, ran the backup script a few times, rebooted once or twice to check it.

Now my tp240 is running DSL0.9.2 frugal install :)

The tp240 seems to be mostly detected by DSL, even the sound works! only the modem doesnt work (no major loss). Only annoying thing is the sound out is soo noisy, but the frugal install minimises hdd noise :) Then only real pain is remapping the keyboard.
