Are you using a CD-RW or CD-R ?Is your PC friendly with the type of media you are burning to? scci ? ide ? Did you check the md5sum, or does Nero do that automagically? Can you try the CD in a different PC? What kind of system are you trying it on? Why 7.2 something? etc? Posted by guciodog123 on Feb. 11 2005,02:38
1. cd-r 2. yep 3.laptop, so idunno 4. dont need MD5's for anything 5. yep, just see the iso, nothing else on the cd 6. XP Pro 7. why not? Posted by cbagger01 on Feb. 11 2005,23:25
You must have clicked on the wrong button in nero. You should NOT see the *.iso file on your freshly burned CD-R disk when you view it. Try burning the disk by one of these two methods (depends on the version of Nero): Cancel out of any nero wizards. From the top menu, choose File-> Burn Image or Recorder -> Burn Image Or if you really like the wizards, choose "Burn an image file" as your wizard. Posted by brody on Feb. 25 2005,09:38
you might have to go into your bios and change the boot orderwhen your compy is just starting up push f2 or del or whatever it says or mash on the keyboard until something comes up then find something like boot order or boot device, and make it check the CD first, then the flppy then the hard drive, or whatever order you want also I can never boot off my cd burner if I have a non burner drive. so try putting it in the cdrom Posted by cbagger01 on Feb. 25 2005,23:05
Usually, the First Optical Disk Drive (CDROM or DVDROM or CDRW drive) is used for your "boot from CD" purposes from your BIOS.I always stick my DSL disk into the CDROM drive that looks like it was originally included with the computer purchase. Posted by Nemo on Mar. 04 2005,00:49
Reading these replies, read the info about file->burn image or whatever, that's the right advice. If it still doesn't work, (which it should) then you are not booting from CD, go into your cmos setup (Probably F1 during initial bootup) and change the boot order. You are NOT having the second problem, but the second problem is common, so after fixing the first one you may have the second one.

Make sure you are burning the disk image to the CD-- not copy and paste but rather "Take this disk image and make it into a CD" style option. And your BIOS shouldn't need screwing with. Most are set up to start up Floppy, then Optical drives, then HD. Unless you changed something in the BIOS or you added/removed/changed your optical drive. |
