Xsetup on old IBM ThinkpadForum: Laptops Topic: Xsetup on old IBM Thinkpad started by: gjam Posted by gjam on Mar. 17 2005,00:59
Hi all,I am completely new to linux and have been trying to save my old IBM thinkpad 380XD. Have completed the hd installation of dsl but somehow cannot get the X session to work correctly. Have tried all the options in the xsetup.sh but it still starts X with a quite unreadable monochromatic screen with vertical lines. The desktop is there but can hardly make out the items. Any help will be greatly appreciated. thanx george Specs: P 233MMX 32MB Ram SVGA NeoMagic NM2160CR 128Bit2MB Screen HPA 800x600x16M Posted by cbagger01 on Mar. 17 2005,03:26
A quick use of the Forum search button revealed the following thread:< http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....n;st=30 > Bottom line, try booting from the livecd with the boot command: dsl xsetup vga=787 and then choose the xfbdev server from the menu. Good Luck. Posted by gjam on Mar. 18 2005,13:14
