I have a compaq presario 1600 XL124 with a synaptic's touchpad and when x starts and press the touchpad the arrow fall to the botton of the screen, also the workspace changes when I press the touchpad.

what can be re reason for this ?

The KDrive Xserver in DSL doesn't support the synaptics mousepad ..
All you'll get is the silly cursor jumping to the ottom of the screen,
with only left-right movements showing.. ( or flashing menus )

On my compaq laptop, an older model, I installed the XFree86.dsl .
Problem solved, as that Xserver supports the synaptics beautifully..
DO read the .info file found with it when downloading it,
and read the README text file that accompanies it before
attempting to run this Xserver..  It is NOT a typical .dsl extension,
but requires some copying of selected files before running.
