Boot on my laptop ceases during /etc/fstab createForum: Laptops Topic: Boot on my laptop ceases during /etc/fstab create started by: vinoloco Posted by vinoloco on Mar. 31 2005,22:34
Hi all,DSL screams on all of my desktop junk so I've decided to dump my HD installed version of Fedora on my laptop and just go with a "toram" load off a CD. This should work fine but when I boot up the system hangs at the point where it scans the Harddisk partitions and attempts to create /etc/fstab. Just goes away and sits there.... Anyone have an idea what is going on? The system is a Toshiba Satellite 1805-S203 with plenty of RAM. This happens with a "toram", "failsafe" and normal boot. --- vino Posted by vinoloco on April 12 2005,22:05
I'm bummping this one up since I haven't received any responses....Also can add that this is the "hda: lost interrupt" error message that seems to afflict some older laptops and seems to be related to ACPI mode. Has anybody seen this before? -- vino Posted by cbagger01 on April 12 2005,22:20
Try booting with this command:dsl noacpi and if that doesn't work, try failsafe Posted by vinoloco on April 12 2005,23:40
cbagger01,No dice... I tried dsl noacpi and failsafe and both booted to the "creating /etc/fstab" part and then hung with repeated "hda: lost interrupt" errors. Interesting thing is that when I physically remove my HDA the laptop works fine and boots up DSL no problem. I'd be tempted to think it is something wrong with my disk but it works fine with Fedora and Ubuntu (both live and installed). I get the same error with the main Knoppix release so maybe I should bring up this issue in a forum there.... Anyway, if you can think of anything else, let me know. -- vino Posted by AwPhuch on April 13 2005,02:16
