Im trying to get a HD install of DSL onto a 486 dx2 Panasonic CF-41 Laptop with 20MB of ram and A 250MB HD I have  a 3com 3C574-TX PCMCIA NIC

here is some info on the < CF-41 >

I try to do a DSL=2 after using a startup disc and a CD.  It gets to
PCMCIA Found starting cardmgr and then it dies.

Ive tried a few other choices stoping at the same time.

when I run failsafe it runs but of course with no hardware support.

I also have a 60MB fat16 partition with the knoppix file on it as well and does the same if i boot to that instead of the Hard Drive.

Any ideas what to do?

ok so I got DSL installed to the HD

when i boot "linux 2" it detects the PCMCIA NIC (yea) but then it goes into a loop saying the following:

ide-scsi: expected 12 got 24 limit 12
hdc: lost interrupt
ide-scsi: The scsi wants to send us more data than expected - disgarding data
ide-scsi: [[ 43 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 c 0 0 0 ]

it loops that over and over.

any ideas?

and see if it helps.

fwiw ty, you led me to find out how to upgrade My panasonic cf-71's bios :).  it now boots cdrw's (it wouldn't before so I was wasting cd's).

Hello im using a CF-25 Laptop. I have 3 slots for pcmcia cards. the top slot does not work at all using DSL but slots 2 and 3 work fine with no problems. I am using a wpc11 linksys version 1wireless card and it detects out of the box. I also have a wpc11 linksys version 3 card and it also detects that one fine. Let me know if switching the slots for the card works. I also have the config-4 file for xfree86 128zv magicgraph if you need it email me I will send it to you.

Better yet, post it here so that everyone can see it.

You can paste it into Firefox from Beaver.
