You'll find that using mydsl packages is much simpler than trying to compile in DSL. Try alsadebs:< http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub....m > Installation instructions: < http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/talk/node/69 > Posted by blazzy on May 23 2005,05:57
thank you for the advice, hope it'll do....... i'll test it in a couple of hours, couse right now im at work hitting and kicking some excuvators... Btw.: i'm really impressed about DSL, it runs quite well on ye ol lappy.. bye Posted by tempestuous on May 24 2005,05:50
Sure, ALSA should set you up well for sound. But if, for the sake of size or convenience, you prefer to use DSL's native OSS audio drivers it appears that Opti 82c9xx chips are supported by the OSS mad16 driver. In the Linux kernel source files you can find some helpful information in /linux/Documentation/sound/Opti. Here's the same file online - www.ibiblio.org/peanut/Kernel-2.6.10/sound/oss/Opti Configuration will be similar to my explanation of ESS setup here - < http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....;t=4615 > Just substitute "mad16" where you see "sb", and the "isapnp" option is not valid. Run - modinfo mad16 to check available options. Posted by blazzy on May 24 2005,08:02

Make sure you follow the instructions in the alsadebs.info file. They are very specific and require other mydsl extensions and a boot code. |
