Network install errorForum: Laptops Topic: Network install error started by: michas_pi Posted by michas_pi on July 06 2005,05:43
Hello all, this is my first post and, not suprisingly, it consists of a problem.I have an old Toshiba T4800CT laptop with these specs: 75Mhz 486/DX2 8Mb RAM (embedded) + 16Mb RAM (add-on card) 500Mb harddrive Floppy drive only Xircom RealPort Ethernet 10/100+Modem 56 GlobalACCESS Adapter (REM56G-100) This old timer had Windows 3.11 on it for a while, but I got tired of it and decided to put Linux on it. My friend recommended me DSL, and after a demonstration by him on one of his old PCs, I was highly impressed. ::tips hat towards DSL developer/s:: I have no CD-ROM drive on this computer (as stated before) and I have no access to an external drive, either. I do, however, have a DSL connection (no pun intended) and a working copy of TOMSRTBT on floppy. I decided to preform a network install of DSL. I intend to keep DSL on the harddrive on one partition and a swap space on another partition. (Psst, help/advice with partitioning is appreciated.) I am following these instructions: < Network install >. Everything has been dandy until I get to this point: "Finally run the frugal_lite.sh like this: ./frugal_lite.sh" When I type that command in, I get this message: "./frugal_lite.sh: permission denied" I have no idea what to do now. Any help is appreciated. I already searched the forum/Google for a solution, but no luck. Thanks in advance, michas_pi P.S. I am a part-Linux n00b, so detailed, easy-to-follow explanations are highly appreciated. I will get around to teaching myself more Linux skills, however. You forgot to make frugal_lite.sh executable.
Should work like a charm now. |
