..yeah...i was trying to install dsl  1.0.1 on an old compaq laptop computer and for some reason i am not able to make the system boot up from cd [so i can install dsl]...i tried to change the settings from bios but they don't have an option to select cd-rom as the first boot device. and during boot-up the system alwasy reads my fdd...so i am wondering if there's like a "start up" floppy disk for dsl that i can use to install the linux off the cd...

you can also use "smart boot manager". it enables you to write a floppy or to hard disk to let you boot from cdrom. very clever and handy if you cant use bios to boot from cdrom, google it.

Except that Smart Boot Manager does not work with non-ATAPI CDROM drives.
