Boot problem with Tecra 8000Forum: Laptops Topic: Boot problem with Tecra 8000 started by: brendanh Posted by brendanh on Aug. 04 2005,22:28
This is my first install of DSL and first post to this forum.Booting off the cd on a Toshiba Tecra 8000 (Pentium II 133, 64 mb ram, 4 gig HD with no partitions (removed them all)) the boot up freezes at the point where it shows the processor and cache info (Pentium II 117 (Deuschtes) 512k cache (or similiar)). At this point it just stops. No hard drive or cdrom activity. I've tried boot options like dsl-hdinstall and a few others (can't think of them now) but to no avail. Stops at this same point every time. Comments greatly appreciated, Brendan Henderson Posted by cbagger01 on Aug. 05 2005,05:03
Try typing in this at the boot command prompt:fb800x600 acpi=off NOT dsl fb800x600 acpi=off Posted by brendanh on Aug. 10 2005,04:16
Thanks for that.Typed that in and install progressed to the point where I selected the mouse type (and other stuff on a blue screen) and then install progressed to say something like :- 'Starting with display 0x00111 with p/s2 mouse' and then system hung. |
