Hello, I installed DSL to my hardrive and got the sound to work for playing CDs but when I try to play an MP3 or WAV file I get no sound. I tried with XMMS, which I use to play the CDs, and mpg123. The mixer adjusts the volume fine and I have muted the microphone (which did give a loud feedback). I have not tried any other type of sound except with the PC speaker for beeps and such.Any Ideas would be appreciated? Regards, Brian Posted by AwPhuch on Sep. 26 2005,20:57
http://linux.is-a-geek.net/laptop/armada-7800-fc1.htmlThis might help The core distro is different, however the modules and IO settings should be the same If it does work using this then a new entry on that site should be posted doncha think Oh...also I dont think the DSL version of XMMS has mp3 support man, have you heard it make any sound at all??? No sound at all. But I did not get any sound from mpg123 either (of course I am not sure about the settings for mpg123 either). I have not tested mpg123 for making any sound so I am not sure it would at all. It keeps telling me that it can't load libasound and asks if it is in use.Regards, Brian Posted by brianw on Sep. 27 2005,00:26
Thanks Brian, I checked and it is the same settings I used when I set up the sound card using sndconfig in DSL. I think that since my sound is working then it is probably just an application problem that I am having. Thanks for the tip about XMMS. That supports the app config theory that I now think I am having. Regards, Brian |
