Hi folks,

I have apt-get enabled on the menu.

What is the correct command line to get this package installed?

# dpkg-get
did not work.

TIA

What do you mean enabled?
If it's in the mydsl menu then it's already installed, otherwise you have to download it from the mydsl extensions.

Is the dpkg that comes with DSL ready to use? I had this problem:

Code Sample
dsl@test:/tmp$ sudo dpkg -i mailx_1-3a8.1.2-0.20020411cvs-1_i386.deb
dpkg: /var/lib/dpkg/status: No such file or directory

Hi pr0f3550r,

I used GUI to install Apt
App --> Tools --> Enable Apt

Sorry I don't follow.  Please explain  in more detail.  TIA

Hi spock,

Tks for your advice.

Whether to run as super root

# dpkg -i apt-get.deb

It did not work here before.  Now I got apt-get installed via desktop menu.

# which apt-get
/usr/bin/apt-get

Tks

Hi there,

sudo dpkg -i works for me, and it should, this is the menu entry in Fluxbox :

[exec] (Enable Apt) {aterm +tr -T "DSL Apt and Dpkg Restore" -e sudo dpkg-restore}

Satimis to enable APT you can also just load the dsl-dpkg.dsl extension, available here :

Sorry from your first post it was not clear to me what you wanted to do.

???

That's what I meant when I said that dpkg is not ready to use unless you load the extension.
That's what dpkg-restore does:
dsl@box:~$ sudo dpkg-restore
Grabbing the compressed dpkg database and programs...
Connecting to proxy...[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.]:80
dsl-dpkg.dsl          82% |***********************      |  1263 KB  - stalled -
