I have enabled apt and even updated to GNU utilities, however when I run sudo -H apt-get install uucp I get broken packages reported. This also happens if I try and install alien.

I am running DSL in ram so that I get a system that (I thought anyway) is R/W.

I need uucp to be installed as it is the main reason for using DSL in the fact that it can run entirely in RAM.

Also I have just tried to run DSL on a PC at work and the TFT screen reports a signal losts erroring with the Hz is too high. Any help on this would be appreciated.

just a further question to this post . As I am struggling to install this via apt-get or even synaptic (I know I have probably got this wrong) would it be better if I installed uucp via a tar.gz file and then complied it through make etc?

It would probably not be simpler to compile it on DSL.
What message are you getting specifically? It sounds like it could be missing a dependency that is not being found by apt-get.

It does look like the dependices are been found and attempted to be installed. If my memory serves me correctly one of the dependics/installation procedures tries to do something with /etc/aliases but reports an access error of sorts. Also , again if my memory serves correctly , dpkg reports error code (1).

Sorry to be vague but I do not have the full details to hand.

hmmm...i don't know for sure what that would mean. /etc/aliases might be a symlink to /KNOPPIX/etc/aliases, in which case it couldn't be modified without first copying the file from KNOPPIX.

I have got this working now - it needed a lot of setting up to work which included creating a user and loading an SMTP program - I couldnt install sendmail so I sed postfix instead.
