I believe this would be a nice addition, make it seem more like a Personal Computer users OS. Just wondering, or if someone could help me out as to how to do this on my own?

You'd need to repatch the kernel, so that means getting the Knoppix v3.3 kernel sources and working from there. You might want to check out http://www.bootsplash.org
