I've a very basic boot problem I've never seen from DSL before. I've just put together a VIA EPIA 5000 motherboard for a basic DSL system.
On booting from CD, I get the following message:
ISOLINUX 2.04 (Debian, 2003-06-06) isolinux: Loading spec packet failed, trying to wing it... isolinux: Extremely broken BIOS detected, last ditch attempt with drive = 9F isolinux: Disk error 01, AX = 424C, drive 9F
Boot failed: press a key to retry...
Never even get to the first DSL display to select boot options. I get the same with both DSL 2.3 and DSL 2.1b; both discs boot up no problem on another machine. Knoppix 4.0 CD boots up fine with no problems. Did a DSL 2.3 USB ZIP install on another machine & it boots up fine on the VIA from USB.
So I think all the hardware is working, DSL just won't boot from CD on the VIA machine. Probably some stupid setting in the BIOS I haven't figured out.
Anyone experienced anything similar or have some ideas?
Thanks in advance, Ian.
