When you post something, it is good to include your machine specifications as well as the type of install you are running from. This information will influence what type of answer you get as well as how fast people will try to help.
That being said, you could try this:
Open Aterminal, use the icon on the desktop or right click on the desktop and select XShells, then Transparent. Now that you have a "command prompt" type this:
sudo su
then hit enter. then type:
passwd dsl
then hit enter. You will be prompted to provide a password. Do it.
Then on the DSLpanel click on BetaFTP, or choose it from the fluxbox menu by right clicking on the desktop, go to System -> Daemons -> FTPd -> betaftpd start
From another machine, you should be able to log in via FTP (port 21) with the username DSL and the password that you provided earlier.
There is an easier way to do this, but you did not specify what type of install you were running from.
