Well, I have used DSL for a while on tons of machines and loved it! =)
I was always wondering how come DSL uses this little of ram?
Does it do caching at all? I'm actually currently choosing distro for my server I have a AMD-K6 II 350mhz + 128mb(soon upgrade to 256). I used to put Debian Linux on machine and apache, proftpd, mysqld...After a year I see that the ram usage was always 98% and used always like 20mb of ram. So I made backup installed Debian freshly and as I see it just uses like 90mb of cache. Do I need cache or how do i limit it...AFAIK DSL just runs on about 40mb of ram max...so should i choose the DSL as my server distro??? Please help!  :O

RAM in linux is handled differently than M$...it uses the highspeed RAM (highspeed compared to the speed of a HD), it will use all available RAM before swapping to the HD

What do you plan on running as a server on the system?

My assumption is that since DSL doesn't run anything by default, you're not going to have much caching.  Your debian system running 3 servers is going to cache what it needs to keep running, and my guess is that DSL would do similar in that situation.  It's probably still not going to use the same as a typical debian system, though, simply because all of the applications in DSL were chosen specifically for their small footprint (except firefox...).

alligator...

Try DSL...

I run all the packages you meantioned and my system is only using 53mb of ram, and about 5 mb of swap....

That is it....

I have my server running on a P166mhz, 128mb...

You're K6-II would kick butt...
