Hi, I have exacly the same problem. The only difference is that I use pendrive distro. I want to add "unicom" the polish communicator, linux client of gadu-gadu (the most popular commmunicator in Poland). I downloaded the packege, and typed dpkg -i package_mane and all I got was :
dpkg: /var/lib/dpkg/status No such file or directory.

Is there any solution? This post is in very aesy reach by google, so anybody can put here some links to solution or just a how-to install pakeges?

I would try adding dsl-dpkg.dsl.  I couldn't say if that'll help, but it's all I can think of.

you need to install the dsl-dpkg.dsl, just download it and transfer it to the system that's not connected. from here-> ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/damnsmall/mydsl

You use the mydsl icon on the desktop to install the local app since you don't have internet.
