The gcc you mention are extensions.
Extensions are contributed by users.
Usually this indicates an area that the user is interested in.
If you are comforable with the tar command than may I suggest for you to try.
You obviously have the interest and would know if the repacking of gcc with gcj will function as expected.
I hope you take on this task and contribute back to the project.
