Hi I am a new to DSL & Linux for that matter.

I have downloaded a iso file, made a bootable cd, run it & have
a system running.

I have my usb key plugged in & cant find it in the filesystem.
I tryed the mount tool & clicked "Mount" on the sdal.
Now I can see my usb key files...is this normal or should I see without the mount tool?

Using the help/tips & tricks I have tried to backup my settings.
I just cant seem to do it, I am pulling the little remaining hair out of my head.

What do I type in the Backup tool to save my setting to my usb stick?

You have to mount a device in order to see its files, so yes that's normal.

If your usb device is /dev/sda1, then enter "sda1" in the backup tool.
