As thehatsrule had posted, DSL 2.1b has sata support.  You might try that.

Slackware itself is not a live cd, by the Slax project created a liveCD based on Slackware

Finally I have found it now and know what you mean.

I was always looking at:
http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=damnsmall
There it is mentioned that DSL 2.0 has the newer (2.4.31) kernel.

Seems to be a wrong or incomplete information.
I have found this 2.1b file now in one of the official DSL archive sites.

Will try it this afternoon. Thanks.

That is correct.
2.0 does have the 2.4.31 kernel, but does not have the sata modules boot option.
See the notes page for more details.

Tried DSL 2.1b now.
No success unfortunately.

The booting ends with the limited shell, doesn't matter if "dsl sata" is typed in or not as boot option.
The filesystem will not be found.

My harddisk and my DVD-Rom are both connected via SATA cables.

Just hope that the new DSL with kernel 2.4.34 will support everything.
Maybe I will try it also with Slax the next days, but their 2.4 kernel is only supported till version 28-pre4.
