I'am looking forward to building my own knoppix modification, but i don't know how to do. I've read about remastering faq on knoppix.net and i assume dsl was built in a similar way.

Edit :

I tried to remaster but i think there is a problem with hidden files, it doesn't autoload X at startup (the x setup and the x server). It says something bad about /KNOPPIX/.bash_profile (or similar, i didn't note)

I think the "cp -Rp /KNOPPIX/* /.../temp/" didn't get some files ... why ? ???

Any help in fixing this would be appreciated.
Looks like some config files are not in /KNOPPIX/ or /home, or there is a special trick i am not aware of yet.

That's the best explanation of how to customize anything - I'm working on my own DSL mod of 0.6.1 by using that site's info.
