This is great! I love this. DSL rocks.
I downloaded and burned DSL on a 50M business card CD using Nero on my XP machine. Popped it into an old Gateway with an AMD 200Mhz, 47M ram, Fireball 2G HD, slow CD-ROM, and BLAM! Like magic, I was looking at this thing boot up! What a complete and TINY package. After boot, I was dumbfounded. This thing works.
I couldn't stop at that point. The next day (today), I just had to have this on the little 2gig HD. I read through the forum on HD Installs for a couple of hours or so to make sure I had a clear and concise understanding of what was required. Yet again, BLAM! Magic. It worked. Although I do not really have a clear and concise understanding of what I am doing, this thing is working.
I am a newb to Linux. Installed Slackware on an old IBM 600E about a week ago. I bit the bullet and purchased the box set. It's pretty cool. I am enjoying this Linux experience.
DSL runs live from the Gateway mentioned above, an IBM ThinkPad T21, and an IBM ThinkPad 600E. I have another machine that has issues. But that machine has issues with anything other than Bill Gates, which really pisses me off, but that's another story. Someday, it will be assimilated too!
I am writing this post via gLinks-H on the HD of the Gateway.
Now, I'm off for more reading in the forums. I just gotta do the USB thing, who could resist something like that?
I've joined the revolution.
