One thing is for sure, DSL Rocks big time!

I have an old IBM 300GL (Onboard video card, MMX 199 mHz, 130 mb ram, 2.1 gb hd, Linksys 10/100 pci lan card and isa sound card) that I was getting ready to toss in the trash.

I decided to try DSL which is one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. Everything in my IBM worked on the first install, no looking for drivers for this and that. Try that with Microsoft and see what happens.

I'm just amazed with DSL and Linux as a whole.

Take care,

Could you do me a favor and point me to the tutorial that tells how to do something like that?  I have an old 75Mhz Pentium that I want to set up.  It does not have the capability to boot from the CD rom (if i borrow one to put in there even).  It will be a little work slave accessed thru SSH.  I just need to get it running.  I am not that proficient with linux, but I am good at reading instructions and making it work.

Thanks.

start with a poorman's using toms root boot.

just use the earch function here in the forums.

or if you borrow a cdrom for it, just use the boot floppy.

Matthew,

First, you need the boot disk that it's present in download section. You boot from disk, putting at boot time the command "dsl 2". So, you'll enter in text mode.

When boot proccess finish, introduce command "dsl-hdinstall" and follow the instructions in screen. That's all.

Good luck and enjoy!
