Here in Spain, almost the entire group of regional governments has decided to beg in Linux as the OS for the citizens. In Andalucía, the Junta de Andalucía (name of the regional government) give subventions to families for 50% price in new computer for home, with internet connection; and the OS sugested is Linux, Guadalinex or anyone else that user prefers for free. The regional goverment of Extremadura, Aragón, Madrid, Cataluña and Galicia (the most populated regions in Spain) has developed their own distro of Linux. They are the following: Linex for Extremadura, Augustux for Aragon (Caesar Augusta = Zaragoza in Latin, Augusta derives from Augusto, so Augustux ), the other names don't remember. Returning to Andalucía, my region, Guadalinex EDU is the Guadalinex version dedied to School and High School. Right know the goverment is deploying a set of computer in each school and high school with this distro for teaching. The inner tasks of the government are developed with Guadalinex, not Windows. I am studying the access exams to goverment functionary, and Guadalinex is one subject of exam.
Just one point I forgot. The principal river in Andalucía is the Guadalquivir one, which means in arabian Great River, so Guadalinex = Great Linux.
