Well,
I'm not speaking for John or anyone else but I assume that smbtree was removed because it used up a decent amount of space and the masses wanted xmms back.
So this leaves a few options:
(1) Increase distro size beyond 50MB - not gonna happen. (2) Delete something else, instead - I assume that smbtree was not randomly chosen so there was a reason that the maintainers decided that this was the best choice for removal. (3) Create a smbtree.dsl extension and use it. (4) Create a custom remaster with smbtree added and something else yanked. (5) Use an older version of DSL. (5) Use LinNeighborhood. (6) Write down your windows computer and sharenames on a piece of paper and type them in by hand.
I'm sure I misssed one or two options but that's the best that I can do right now.
