I've been playing with DSL for a week or two on some low spec PC's, and decided to give it a go under micro$oft virtual PC.
For those now familiar with it, Virtual PC (formerly connettix until MS purchased it) is basically a PC emulator......... for MS operating systems. It allows you to install other operating systems on virtual hard drives which are actually files on your HD, and emulates bios, hardware, and even lets you map ports to your real hardware.
Under windows XP, I have created a virtual PC with a 200Meg drive, 32 Megs of ram, and captured the cd rom of the virtual pc to the iso image of dsl....... it quite happily boots from the iso image, lets me run cfdisk on the virtual disk, create a partition and install - and it works fine! Only complaint it had was that it couldn't detect the graphics card, but that hasnt stopped it running X at 1024/768..... and yes, I am typing this from Dillo, running from DSL, on a virtual PC under windows XP!
Now you may be wondering why I have done this....... the answer is there is no real reason, other than to play with DSL some more!
