I'm a complete newbie, just to warn ya'll.

I installed DSL a while ago on a really nasty old computer.  I made a swap partition beforehand, but when I did the installation I didn't do whatever you're supposed to get the computer to use the partition.  I guess I must've skipped something, but this was about a month ago, so I can't remember.  Now, my sister (it's her computer) tells me programs are crashing all over the place.  That would be because of the memory, right?  So I need to get the swap partition to work.  How do I do that?  Do I have to reinstall? If so, how do I do this right next time?

I hope you only made space(partion) for it in cfdisk and saved the partion table...so please do...

login as root an do "mkswap /dev/hdswap"
/dev/hdswap is the swapdrive...then reboot

And sometimes to activate swap you have to type "swapon -a"

Erm, regarding this post, would I have to do this too?

I created a linux partition and linux swap on the one drive and just installed DSL using the guide and made lilo work.

I didn't get any errors and haven't done upto now (not used it much) but does it auto do this or will I need to do this too? (the above)
