I have a self built computer Asus A7V8X mobo, Athlon XP 2700+ CPU, 768MB DDR 2700 RAM, & nVidia FX 5200 /128MB 8X AGP graphics card.

Version .0.7.0 dsl boots and runs fine on it.  I wanted to try newer version so I downloaded 0.9.0 and it won't boot.  I then tried 0.9.0.1 and it too won't boot past Press <enter> to begin or F2 for Boot Options.
Farthest it boots is to Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.  Then there is no activity.
I can also boot to F2 but any selections I choose also won't work.  I have also tried failsafe.

It does boot fine on an older 667 p3 computer I have and a few other older computers.

Is this come kind of video card bug?  As it worked fine on same computer with old version.

Try the 0.9.1 version.

There were changes made to the 0.9.1, so it may work fine..

Once you get 0.9.1 burned to cd, you will probably need to use:

fb1024x768

after pressing F2 before boot up of cd, or whatever your resolution is. I have the FX5200 on my similar setup and that's the only way it likes it. I'll never buy another one of those, or anything similar, I can tell you that.... they suck.

So far I really can't say my card sucks it just doesn't like dsl 0.9.x versions for some reason.  It plays games excelent.  Never had any winxp related problems with it.

From a root shell, run the command ..

Xvesa -listmodes

See what the options for vesa are in the card.

Perhaps NVidia is pulling away from vesa compliance
in the higher resolutions on certain cards.

My geforce2 GTS DDR and geforce4-mx440 versions
all show 1024x768 at all colors, and 1280x1024 at 16 bit

Did you try the command  " dsl vga=normal " at boottime ?
