I wonder how to put icons of installed programs on the desktop or (if not) how to make console (for example xvterm) to run on startup with root logged in...
I've already installed some needed aps like xtv xprt , xine-ui and gcc... (still can't install make and g++).. and I would like them to be on my destkop.. how to do it????

Have a look at the GIF and LNK files in .xtdesktop

You can read how somebody set up an icon for OpenOffice at Article

Piece of cake.

In /home/damnsmall  there is a hidden dir .xtdesktop I think, it contains all the .lnk files you get when running xtdesk.

Add you link with it's coordinates in that subdir and you'll do fine!

To know the exact location : search for "xmms.lnk", that's the dir!
