Before I go off, if including the drivers was deemed unsuitable, would it be possible to include it in the myDSL repository, or is the case different with drivers?
That additional factor can tip the scales because a text editor most absolutely can be made into an extension, while (to my knowledge) drivers may or may not.

The driver in question supports all wi-fi cards with the ACX100/ACX111 chipset. The list of devices which contain this chipset is here:

http://acx100.sourceforge.net/matrix.html

I'm so used to seeing things measured in MB and GB that when I see something measured in KB, it seems small. But 452 KB out of a 50MB CD is nearly a full 1%. The % of users for whom this module is useful would then need to be fairly large to warrant its inclusion.

Sure, packaging up as a personal mydsl file is always an option. You could write a wrapper to install the module and run the wrapper in bootlocal.sh at startup.

All kinds of possibilities :)

Just like the alsadebs.dsl or the xfree86.dsl or the nividia.dsl, if is possible to create a myDSL extension for this device that works with the existing kernel, then it is a good compromise.

It can even be made into a public *.dsl extension if the drive user license terms are freely distributable.
