I'm trying to boot DSL on my old computer (which can't be booted from CD), and have been having floppy drive problems recently. for a while the drive didnt seem to be working at all, so I bought a used one and fiddled around with the ribbon cable and eventually I changed something in the BIOS which made the original drive work again(almost), but the new one doesnt.
I can now get the old one to read floppies in win 95, but it wont boot from the boot floppy I made which I know works because I've used it on a bunch on computers at my school.
The computer's boot sequence is A, C, and I've tried it with and without "seek floppy at boot", but it still does not boot from the floppy!!

ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated

Try LOADLIN Install.  Check the DSL Documentation Pages for more information.

thanks. I will try that.

There's only one problem now - I managed to mess up the CD drive. However I think I only need to mess around with the ribbon cables some more.

Edit: I just looked at the loadin page, and it seems pretty complex. I think I'll try to do a hd install if I get the cd drive working
