Hi All.
I have just done a frugal install of DSL into an old netvoyager thin client and I am most impressed! I have never try'd Linux before and I reckon I'm now a convert.
Installation went so easily after browsing your forum for tips(Except a little trial and error Partitioning and formatting under dos and cfdisk), I had to use another machine to load DSL onto the 128MB IDE Flash disk as the Netvoyager has only 1 IDE channel and no floppy.
DSL found *ALL* the hardware on-board and booted like a dream. It'll even let me use the TV out from the trident on-board video chip as default (Which is great as I want the machine to sit under my TV so i can watch the news and check my email with my morning coffee!).
The Netvoyager is sporting a 128MB IDE flash disk (2 Partitions), an AMD K6/2 450 and 256MB ram. It also has on-board video, audio, 10/100 LAN and 2 USB ports. I might even be able to stream movies from my network to my TV. Most Impressed!
Thanks to all the people who have worked on this Damn fine Distribution.
Now, some questions, does anybody know of a Hotmail/Webmail proxy that i could add to my install of DSL? Also can anyone recommend an on-line resource that can help me master the basics of how linux works as i am a complete newbie to linux after using micro$oft since 3.11?
Many Thanks
Nosher.
