Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum, but im needing help.

I would like to Install DSL to my Laptop that I have, but My laptop is unable to boot CD since it is old. Its a Dell Latitude XPi CD P150ST

It has a 150mhz Pentium, 48MB of ram, and Ive installed a 30 gig HD inside of it.

Windows 98se doesn't even run correctly (very slow i say, even when theres no programs running) anymore, Im wanting to get rid of that.

I chose DSL of its small useage of power and compatiblity on even a 486DX.

Im going to format the HD then hopefully someone can help me Explain to make a BOOT Disk (as in Floppy) for DSL, and then use the DSL CD and Install DSL on there (which i need instrutions on that as well). Can that be done?

Im a new user and Im sorry if I bothered anymore. Im about to give up and throw this laptop out, but im wanting to do this.

Can anyone help?
Thanks for your time

Here is a link to some debian documentation that explains installation.  You will want to look into sections 4 and 5 specifically for booting from floppies.  The basics are:  create a boot floppy with support for your CDROM, boot from the floppy with the option root=<device for cdrom>, your system should boot from the floppy then load the root from the cdrom.  Maybe someone knows of a floppy boot image for DSL that can be downloaded.  Anyway, have a look at the installation guide before you do anything else.

Boot the CD on another computer with web access and a floppy drive.

In the menu, Apps >> Tools >> Make Boot Floppy

They say if you play a Microsoft CD backwards, you hear satanic messages. That's nothing, cause if you play it forwards, it installs Windows.
