Topic: Change GRUB files in /boot directory, how?, Don't know how to change GRUB files

Can't change GRUB files in /boot directory. I want to choose booting in DOS or DSL from my 512MB flash drive. Any ideas how to do that?
I'm new in Linux...

Mount the boot directory of the usb drive

cd to that mounted drive (possibly /mnt/hda?)

go to /boot/grub
vi grub.conf

save and done
