Hello,

On a live cd boot I get a blank screen.

ctrl+alt+f1 brings up this error message:

apm: overridden by acpi

insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.31/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/apm.0: init: no such device

insmod: hint insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid io or irq parameters.

insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.31/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/apm.0: insmod: char-major-io-134 failed.

x10: fatal io error 104

(connection reset by peer) on xserver ":0.0"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

amd 64 3000 - asus a8ne board with nvidia graphics card.

try booting with: fb1024x768 dsl noapm noacpi

thanks for the help. I got in using the fb option. I'm now having modem dialup problems. ppp conf only works on ttyso. It sends atmz and then times out with a script failure. It then sends atz with the same result. At least I got in.

What kind of modem are you using? There are some other forums here that may help you for that.

Hello,

My modem is: US Robotics Sportster 56k int. modem / V9 / PCI / v2976 with voice, #6266.

I am using Fedora Core 3 and my modem is connected on ttyS14?

I really appreciate your help. I would really would like to understand how to set this modem up as I have had this problem with other distros before.
