I'm not used to Fluxbox or DSL yet, but all I'm trying to do is remove the background wallpaper and set the background color to plain black. How can I do this easily?

Thanks

Please provide more information.

What version of DSL are you running?
HOW are you running it? LiveCD, embedded, HD install, etc. ?

Generally, if you are using one of the latest releases, there is a background tool in the DSL control panel.
There should be an icon on the desktop for that. Click it and look at the various buttons to find the one you need.

xsri --color=black
bsetbg -solid black
bsetroot -solid black

Any of those should work

I'm running 2.1b, on an install to hd setup. Everything else is default. There is a background button on the DSL control panel but this only allows me to change it, not blank it out and make background pure black.

Use the xpaint program to create a jpeg thats solid black. Load it into the fluxbox/background directory and just switch to it. Make sure you set it to scale. Now, if I can just figure out how to use different wallpaper on each differnt desktop......
