We use K drive/Tiny X X server.

You can use the command

Xvesa -listmodes

To see the modes that your video card can support using  Tiny X

If you want Mepis like X, then use XFree86.dsl extension with DSL.

They only properly support 640x480x16bit color for VESA modes, so you can boot with:

dsl vga=normal xsetup

and choose Xvesa and 640x480x16bit

Then use ALT-LeftClick to drag your windows down until the title bar is in view and then maximize them.

Or install XFree86 and use the i810 driver
