Before I started using DSL, I'd never even heard of Fluxbox, despite knowing of quite a few other window managers for X. As I've spent time with the Fluxbox environment, and found all the little tweaks and extra features (keybindings, the slit, themes, customised workplaces, etc.), it has really grown on me, to the point where I chose Fluxbox as the X window manager for our home server, as well as using FB in DSL.

I'm curious: is there anyone else on this forum who became a "Fluxbox fan" as a direct result of DSL, to the point where you even want to use it on other machines? Or did you all know about Fluxbox before you found DSL?

Thanks,
Tim.

I learned of Fluxbox from a friend shortly after starting with Linux about 5 years ago, and have used it as my primary window manager ever since.  Fluxbox was one of the main reasons I decided to try DSL in the first place (most small distros seem to prefer icewm or xfce), so I guess this relates to your thread in some way =o)

Yes - for one, Puppy Linux chose fvwm95 (IIRC), but one reason I like Fluxbox is that it doesn't try to look like Win95/98/whatever... and as I posted in another thread, I'm quite keen on dockapps. (Which reminds me - I still need to get around to sending in a couple of dockapp extensions I threw together...)

On-topic, anyway :D

With DSL I became a Fluxbox enemy and now I have converted to jwm.

By the way, hardcore Windows fanboys are indiffrent to Gnome, kde, Xgl but are fascinated by jwm... serious!

Not a fan of fluxbox, but I use it all the time, frankly because all the rest are even worst !
