I have 4.10 working fine on old 75mhz pentium as hardrive install.  I changed video card to a CirrusLogic 5429.  Now only way I can get x to run is to xsetup.sh and choose xvesa and pick either usb mouse or the scroll mouse option (doesnt matter which).  If I dont choose one of those then x wont run.  If I do choose one of those my mouse (serial 2 button) wont work.  only happens with this card.  If I go back to other card (cant think of what it is right now and am on different computer in different room right now so cant look) everything works fine.  Oh by the way same difference whether I boot from cd or the hd install.

Ok, dug around into my bag of ticks and found an old 3 button scroll mouse with a sticky roller ball that plugs into PS/2.  It works (but I want my optical serial mouse back!) and I am getting a pretty good picture at least as good as anything under win95 with best driver I could find and I had to try several drivers to get decent picture with it.  Must be that xvesa doesnt like serial mice. Now however the edges of the screen are hidden so I cant get to minimize/maximize buttons.  Using my preferred 800x600 resolution, guess I have to experiment with that.  Grrr........
