Anyone know how i can prevent the "GEtting started with DSL" dillo screen from starting when i boot into x? also,, is there a way to have windows remember their last size? i'm running 640x480, and the main dillo window is bigger than my desktop when i start, its very annoying to have to resize it everytime

hey Stratz999,

yes sure you can.....

just edit one of the last lines of /home/dsl/.xinitrc....
It will be saying something like:
dillo -f /home/damnsmall/html/opening_message.html &>/dev/null &
Just remove that line. save, and backup youre settings using the dslpanel.
then reboot with dsl restore=device name

device naam will be:
hard disk = hda1 (most of the time)(1 is the first partion, but you can go on until 24 i thought)
floppy drive = fd0 (0 is youre first floppy drive, somtimes you use a second fd1)
USB key = sda1 (first USB filesysteem.)

Good luck and report back if it is not working.... then we will try to help you further.

Thanks, that worked perfectly, however, i'm still having problems with applications initial window sizes being larder than the my desktop display, when i launched Emelfm, to edit the config file, the window was too big, and i could not even reach  the toolbar, or edges to resize it, i'm running dsl on a laptop from 1996, so its quite ancient, and it will only display  in 640x480, any suggestions?

640x480....that must be painful.
To resize, hold the Alt key while dragging with the right mouse button anywhere within the window.
Drag left to make the window smaller horizontally, drag up to make it smaller vertically.
Alt+drag with left button to move the window.
