Tonight I started running my favorite Windows email monitoring tool on DSL. I was amazed to see that JWM knew how to handle the System Tray icon for this application properly.
For those of you who don't know what the System Tray is... it's a dedicated bit of screen real estate down in the lower right hand corner near the clock. Windows uses it to display icons for some running processes. In the case of Magic Mail Monitor, the icon shows the state of my POP3 emailboxes. If there is mail, it shows an envelope in an inbox tray... if there is new mail, the envelope flashes on and off.
Fluxbox dedicates a tiny new window somewhere on screen for this icon. JWM implants it into the taskbar to the left of the CPU usage graph.
I am very impressed!
