with "rm -rf /dev/mouse" the mouse which does not work properly is removed. Afterwards I write "In -sf /dev/ttyS0 /dev/mouse to say linux there is a new mouse which is plugged to com1. RIGHT?

Is /opt/bootlocal.sh something like the autoexec.bat in DOS setting the devices and the paths?

/opt/bootlocal.sh is something that manages what?

Would it be possible to open the xf86config with a text editor and change the settings manually?

In Reply.....

1. RIGHT!

2. yes , similar... the contents are executed during bootup.
It does not set " Files, Buffers, or Drivers " like an Autoexec.bat

3. No, XF86config is used by the XFree or X.Org Graphics subsystems.
DSL uses the XKdrive for the GUI..
Some XF86 files are in DSL for program compatibility only ..
