I have tried to change the keyboard settings with the keyboard tool in the control panel but it doesn´t seem to work. Does it work or I´m doing something wrong?

Hi there,

This topic has been covered many times, so try a search in the forum. Although one technique I tried is to backup the standard (US) and you chosen (eg UK for me) keyboard config files, then rename the original UK keymap to the US one. Then DSL should autoload you keymap of choice.

The answer you are looking for is :

If you are using gui, you should log out and in to change the settings ( ctrl+alt+back) to log out, then startx to log in.

The command line to change the settings is loadkeys - your keymap - ( us/fr...)

And if you have a HD install you can put the loadkeys command in /opt/bootlocal.sh.
