if you find a XFree86_config_files/ directory in your /home/dsl, then XFree86.dsl is installed.
you have to do some changes to config files.
1. copy XFree86_config_files/XF86Config-4_vesa to /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
2 copy XFree86_config_files/.xserverrc_for_XF86 to /home/dsl/.xserverrc
3. if you run livecd or usb-install add /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to the filetool.lst
4. windowmanager-exit (from the menu)
5. type: exit at the console

you will hardly see de difference. in a shell-bash (from the menu), type: top
one of the running proccesse is: XFree86

if you did the filetool.lst and backup/restore the next time you boot you should be running xfree86

i assume i know what filetool.sh is for and know howto backup/restore your settings!

Hi Henk.

Good job!
On my 0.8.3 HD install, I lost functions
(not vital - wheelmouse & mount app),
but now my old eyes aren't flickered to
shreds. I put the files in /root & /etc/X11.

regards,
Dave  (54)
