The /home/dsl/ files reside in /etc/skel/. The /dsl directory is not populated until boot. So, make all your /dsl modifications in /etc/skel/

I am not able to edit any of the /etc/skel/ files (even as root). I assume this is because I boot from USB and I have not installed this on a hard drive. But is there another option for me?

I want to modify the slitlist in .fluxbox, so only wmnet shows. I tried changing the slitlist file (and also pointing to a new file in 'init' so it didn't look to 'slitlist''), but when I did an X restart the old slitlist came back with all the other programs listed.

Is there another way to refresh the display, other than going to WindowManager -> Restart, so that it won't overwrite changes I make to slitlist?
