I am wondering if it is possible using the mplayer for xfree dsl and fluxbox in 1.4 frugal to open a completly borderless window for the movies. I do this in my other full blown kde distro and like it very much. I have become so spoiled by the do it all rpm distro that I have installed on my other laptop.

Yes.  Use the "mplayer" command instead of "gmplayer".
Or use a different gmplayer skin that doesn't have a border.
Or set up a hotkey in fluxbox for "toggleDecor".
